Welcome to the Fibromyalgia Support Group (Medway) website.  This Support Group is a non-profit making Registered Charity that is run voluntarily by its members and committee.  Our funding policy relies on voluntary donations by members, and donations and grants by outside bodies.  There is no joining fee and no compulsory annual subscription.  We ask members once a year if they are able to make a voluntary donation in support of the group.

The aims of this group are to give non-judgmental information and support to members and those newly diagnosed, as well as their families and supporters, through a telephone helpline for all, a bi-monthly newsletter, and bi-monthly meetings.  We are also working towards raising the awareness of Fibromyalgia (FM) in the Medway area, through the local media, and a public outreach campaign.

We also believe in spreading the word to medical and other caring professionals about the impact of FM, by trying to change the perceptions that FM is not a ‘real’ illness, but is a profoundly real and debilitating condition.

This FM group focuses on the positives rather than the negatives associated with the condition.  In doing so, we accept that there will be times when sufferers are having a flare-up.  However, the aim of the group is to build up individuals with FM through giving them knowledge and information on how to best manage their own condition, and to carry on life to the best of their abilities.

This website contains information about our group and what we do, along with information about Fibromyalgia to help people diagnosed, and their families and supporters, to understand the condition.
